Smoking Cause High Blood Pressure

Apparently there is an alarming trend in the rate of High Blood Pressure or Hypertension depending on how you want to view it. Having been in decline over the past thirty years or so, the levels of High Blood Pressure are increasing.

In the United States of America they reckon that there are a staggering 50 Million plus people over the age of six who are sufferers of High Blood Pressure. Hypertension is a dangerous and extremely sinister disease. The real danger with Hypertension is the almost complete absence of any form of external warning sign whatsoever.

A shocking fact is that 30 percent of the people who sufferer from it don’t actually realise that they suffer from it. It is a frightening fact that if High Blood Pressure is ignored and left untreated and thus goes about its business without treatment then it will cause almost irreparable damage to the bodies internal organs.

If we take an attack of Stroke (one of the biggest killer diseases known to man) you will find that High Blood Pressure is the single most important contributory fact. The connection between High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular (Heart) Disease is well known and in the USA causes in excess of 500,000 deaths per annum. If left untreated, High Blood Pressure can shorten your life by up to 20 years earning it the rather dubious name, “The Silent Killer”.

It is almost essential that I you are diagnosed with High Blood Pressure that it is diagnosed as quickly as is possible. In fact such is the desire to ensure that as few people suffer from High Blood Pressure that the threshold for High Blood Pressure i.e. the level at which it was deemed safe to have Blood Pressure, has now been lowered so that we now have a condition known as “Pre High Blood Pressure”.

Nowadays the levels at which High Blood Pressure occurs have been reduced in attempts to spot it as early as possible. Sustainable changes to your lifestyle are an important part of the whole new approach to the treatment of High Blood Pressure.

It has now been proved that with every 20 point rise in Systolic pressure or 10 point rise in Diastolic pressure from a base point of 115/75 mm Hg, that your likelihood of suffering a fatal Heart Attack or attack of Stroke actually doubles. If you know what to look for High Blood Pressure can be detected and measured very easily. Sometimes to treat High Blood Pressure, all that has to be done is effect certain fairly basic lifestyle changes whilst in other cases this has to be supported by additional medication.

With Hypertension nowadays, and with the information that we now have at our disposal there is no reason that it should be the serious medical condition that it once was. The occurrences of High Blood Pressure are such that in all probabilities we all know someone who is a suffer but that we also probably know someone who has yet to be positively diagnosed – worth thinking about or what?
